Great to meet you!

I have more than 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field and have been in private practice since 2003. I work with adults, older adults, adolescents, individuals, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, grief, stress, relationship challenges, ADHD, anger, impulse control, substance use concerns, cultural or ethnic issues, and major life transitions. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology in Cuba in 1982 and later completed my Master’s degree at Florida International University in 1998. My background has shaped a warm, culturally sensitive, and practical approach to therapy.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel difficult at first. My goal is to help clients feel safe, respected, and supported as they take that courageous first step toward feeling better and becoming a healthier version of themselves.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, energetic, solution-oriented, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe no two people are the same, so therapy should never feel one-size-fits-all. Together, we will look at what is causing distress, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build practical tools to help you move forward.

I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based therapy, problem-solving therapy, positive psychology, and behavior modification. These approaches can help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while learning healthier ways to cope, communicate, and respond to life’s challenges.

My goal is to help you recognize your strengths, shift unhelpful patterns, and create meaningful change in a way that feels realistic and supportive.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will spend time getting to know each other and talking about what brought you to therapy. You do not need to have everything figured out before we begin. I will ask questions about your current concerns, background, symptoms, relationships, strengths, and goals so we can better understand what kind of support would be most helpful. This first session is also a space for you to ask questions, share what has or has not worked for you in the past, and begin feeling comfortable with the therapy process. We will move at a pace that feels respectful and manageable.

By the end of the session, my hope is that you feel heard, understood, and more confident about the path forward.

Together, we will begin creating a plan that supports healthier thoughts, behaviors, relationships, and overall well-being.
