Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Odia Hinds, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a passion for supporting young people and their families through life’s challenges. I'm passionate about helping young people and their families navigate life's challenges with compassion and clarity. With over 21 years of experience in the school system, both as a teacher and school counselor, I bring a deep understanding of the emotional and behavioral needs of children and adolescents.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapeutic Services, a Master’s degree in School Counseling, and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Counseling. This educational background, combined with my years of hands-on experience, allows me to offer practical and effective strategies that support growth both in and out of the classroom.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and I work primarily with clients ages 8 and up. My approach is strengths-based and supportive, and I focus on helping clients develop tools to manage anger, depression, ADHD, anxiety, and other emotional or behavioral concerns.

Whether your child is struggling with emotional regulation, low self-esteem, or challenges at school, I’m here to support their journey—and yours—as we work together toward lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients understand and manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

To engage younger clients, I often incorporate play therapy and creative arts therapy, providing safe and expressive ways for children to explore their feelings. I also integrate mindfulness practices to help build self-awareness, emotional regulation and focus.

My goal is to equip each client with practical tools, confidence, and support to navigate life’s challenges and grow into their strengths.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a safe, supportive space focused on building practical tools for managing emotions, improving focus, and navigating everyday challenges. I help young clients strengthen coping skills, emotional regulation, confidence, and self-awareness through a mix of structured strategies and creative, age-appropriate techniques. Parents can expect collaboration and guidance to support progress between sessions.
