I am a licensed professional counselor(LPC) and LCDC in Texas. I value every client as an individual, knowing that they each have their own unique struggles and experiences. My objective includes providing support and help to individuals and groups to help facilitate change in a positive way, also to identify and understand the challenges of others and provide assistance in the discovery of an alternative solutions.
My orientations amongst others include person-centered therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Some of my earlier memories involve observing my parents modeling interpersonal skills as a medical doctor and similarly through my professional career. Some other therapeutic approach used include solution focused brief therapy, motivational therapy, family systems therapy, EMDR. My knowledge in multiple approach allows me to tailor therapy to fit each client's need.
When working with a client I like to utilize unconditional positive regard, genuineness and empathy. I have come to observe that people do change within the context of how people relate to them. It also helps in working with diverse client populations, to confront their thought and belief patterns and examine how these affect their other emotional problems. I aim to understand the client's thought process, not being judgmental and without bias, also utilizing the client's strengths.
