Great to meet you!

My name is Omolola, but I go by "Lola". Nice to virtually meet you! I am an LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker), received my degree from Simmons University, and I am a first generation Nigerian-American. In that latter identity, I understand towing lines of biculturalism in so many senses of the word; demographically, culturally, language, and varying identities. I try my best to see each individual client through that lens, a single entity with a differing story and needs from others. There's also pride in being one of few BIPOC providers that specializes in niche areas such as eating disorders.

My approach to therapy

Bottom line, my approach is mostly through DBT and CBT, but also an eclectic take on modalities to make a different recipe in treatment planning for each individual. Again, I do not believe in any singular way of therapy being a one size fits all or even most. This perspective came from my niche focus on bettering eating disorder care for those that may feel less seen, though I do work with many diagnoses.I approach therapy with humanness, humor, and a big dose of reality checking...but never at my client's expense. We walk through the battle together, build a map, and have YOU walk out being able to read the map enough to navigate safely.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect warmth, and a real person talking to them. I am not an authority, I am your therapist; here to hold, then help you hold what you're struggling with. And eventually, you will be able to carry and or lessen the weight through talk therapy and skill building to cope. I want you to know that I will be as honest as possible. with you, and have the expectation of you doing so with me. Recovery is not linear, we are not perfect beings, and I don't expect that from you. Just try. Show up for yourself even when you don't want to.
