Great to meet you!

I’m Oscar! An Army veteran and counselor who understands that life can sometimes leave people feeling stuck, disconnected, or exhausted from carrying everything on their own. My own experience with therapy played a major role in changing my life, which is what ultimately led me to this field. That personal perspective allows me to connect with clients in a way that feels genuine, grounded, and real.

Along with my lived experience, I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have worked with diverse populations through the VA and Indian Health Service. I’ve supported clients navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, identity concerns, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional struggles that can feel difficult to put into words. I believe people deserve a space where they can be honest without feeling judged or misunderstood.

My approach to therapy

My approach is direct, compassionate, and focused on helping clients build a stronger understanding of themselves while developing practical ways to move forward. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, not like someone talking at you or trying to “fix” you. Everyone’s story is different, so I try to meet clients where they are and adapt therapy to fit their individual needs and goals.

I work from a perspective that balances emotional processing with real-life problem solving. Some sessions may focus on unpacking deeper experiences or trauma, while others may focus on managing stress, improving confidence, strengthening relationships, or learning healthier coping strategies. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded, capable, and connected to the version of themselves they want to become.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know each other and creating a comfortable starting point. Clients can expect an open conversation about what’s been going on in their life, what challenges they’ve been facing, and what they hope to gain from therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything perfectly or immediately.

I try to create an environment that feels relaxed, supportive, and free of judgment. My goal during the first session is to help clients feel heard, understood, and a little less alone in whatever they’re carrying while we begin identifying realistic goals and next steps together.
