Great to meet you!

My client should know that I focus on anxiety, trauma, cultural/ethnic issues and depression.

I obtained a bachelor's in Social Work at Prairie View A & M University and a Masters in Social Work at the University of Houston. I am a native Houstonian, and bilingual (Spanish/English.)

I am passionate about my profession. I enjoy teaching social work and providing social work services. I believe that social work is a calling and therefore, I am being called to serve.

My experience range from mental health to administration in social work. I love to teach young social workers to develop into generalist clinicians when it comes to clinical work.

I provide therapeutic services through telehealth to individuals in Houston, and the state of Texas.

Oscar A. Guevara, MBA, MSW, LCSW-S, ACM-SW, CCM, CMAC

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and beliefs that may be contributing to emotional distress or life challenges. I believe therapy should be practical, collaborative, and focused on creating meaningful change.

My style is supportive, engaging, and approachable, and I often use appropriate humor to help clients feel comfortable, build rapport, and navigate difficult topics in a way that feels less overwhelming. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can be themselves and feel heard.

I am solution-focused and work with clients to identify strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and create realistic action plans to address their concerns. Rather than simply discussing problems, my goal is to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and develop the tools needed to overcome obstacles and achieve their personal goals.

Whether a client is struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, or other concerns, I focus on helping them find practical solutions and make lasting changes that improve their overall well-being and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with me to be welcoming, supportive, and focused on building a strong therapeutic relationship. I believe that trust and rapport are the foundation of successful therapy, so I take time to get to know each client, understand their concerns, and create a comfortable, nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard and respected.

During the first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your strengths, and identify the goals that are most important to you. I believe treatment should be driven by the client's needs, values, and desired outcomes. Together, we will develop a plan that focuses on practical solutions and meaningful progress.

My goal is to help clients gain clarity, build effective coping skills, and move toward the life they want to create. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, or life transitions, our work will be collaborative, goal-oriented, and tailored to your unique situation.
