I am taking this opportunity to share with you a bit about myself as you decide on where you would like to go with counseling. I have been in the field since 1989, I am a licensed clinical social worker with certification to counsel people with Personality Disorders.
I have worked in Belize for many years and take a multicultural approach to all my work. You will find me open and enthusiastic about our work together.
I function under the belief system that clients are generally the experts on their lives and will lead the therapy content and process based on their needs. I generally use Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies because outcomes are concrete and can be reached fairly quickly.
Honestly, creative therapy is a mix of approaches that are uniquely designed to maximally assist clients to organize, problem solve so they become be empowered to find joy in our challenging world.
Working with clients is a unique combination of art and science with an overlying sense of connection and positive regard. Although much of the work is done with in the relationship, Solution Focused Brief Therapy offers the opportunity to add specific concerns and connect them to tasks. I hope that clients leave therapy with a sense that they are able to tackle their life in a way that is uniquely theirs, with humor and determination.
