Great to meet you!

You may be entering therapy to address depression or anxiety, longing for better relationships or more fulfilling work, or struggling with painful memories or messages that are leaving you feeling stuck, tired, or alone. No matter what brings you to therapy, it’s great that you’ve taken the step of reaching out for support, and I would be honored to accompany you on your journey.

I have specialized training in work with persons who have experienced trauma, as well as experience in addressing the impact of systemic racism and its generational impact on our lives.

I was initially drawn to therapy as the result of growing up in a family with a lot of unresolved depression & grief. I now have over two decades of experience in helping clients reach their goals for healing and transformation, and as I’ve grown in my understanding of how individual, family & community healing are bound up together, I see therapy as an important tool in our efforts at making change

My approach to therapy

I approach the healing process holistically. I’ll listen deeply and ask thought provoking questions to help you make sense of your life and the challenges you’re facing. We’ll work together as a team, and decide what tools will be most helpful, such as life-maps, rituals, movement, spiritual practices, role playing, autonomic nervous system regulation techniques, etc. We’ll also work at building layers of support you can call upon when needed.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for me to learn what is bringing you to therapy, and for us to get to know each other and get a sense of how we would work together. I'll ask questions about the big picture of your life, including your resources as well as the challenges you’re facing, and we’ll identify together our beginning goals for therapy.

My communication style is direct but compassionate. Deep listening and understanding is core to my therapeutic approach, and offers the conditions necessary for clients to access their own wisdom, and learn to better understand and trust themselves. I see therapy as a genuine partnership, and value your feedback about what is or isn't working in our sessions.
