Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Parrish Kent and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University, and I have 5 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate a variety of challenges. My therapeutic approach is rooted in deeply respecting each person’s unique story and experiences. I aim to build a trusting, compassionate, and solution-focused relationship with each of my clients.

I specialize in areas such as marital conflict, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, parenting issues, and trauma recovery. I am passionate about helping clients improve communication, strengthen their emotional resilience, and develop healthier coping strategies. My approach integrates such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy, to provide personalized, evidence-based care that fits your needs.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process. I am committed to providing a supportive environment where you can explore your challenges, work toward healing, and make meaningful changes in your life. If you’re looking for a therapist who will listen, guide, and walk with you through difficult times, I’d love to connect with you.

My approach to therapy

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my approach to therapy is collaborative, empathetic, and client-centered. I believe in meeting clients where they are and creating a safe, supportive space where they feel heard and understood. I take the time to get to know each individual, couple, or family and tailor my approach to their needs, goals, and challenges.

I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. This allows me to address the emotional, cognitive, and relational dynamics that often contribute to the challenges my clients are facing. I also use a systems-based perspective, helping clients recognize how patterns of behavior within relationships can influence their well-being and how to break those patterns for positive change.

I specialize in working with couples navigating relationship challenges, including communication issues, conflict resolution, infidelity, and intimacy concerns. I also work with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and trauma. Additionally, I have experience helping families strengthen bonds, improve parenting strategies, and address generational or cultural dynamics.

Ultimately, my goal is to empower clients to make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives by building on their strengths, enhancing their communication, and fostering deeper connections with themselves and others. I am committed to helping clients feel more confident in their ability to manage life’s difficulties and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

What you can expect from me

When clients work with me, they can expect to leave each session with a greater sense of clarity, empowerment, and practical tools to address the challenges they’re facing. My goal is to create an environment that feels safe, supportive, and free of judgment, where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions openly. I want clients to feel heard, validated, and understood while also being encouraged to take active steps toward growth and healing.

Throughout our work together, clients can expect to set specific goals based on their needs. For individuals, this might involve building emotional resilience, reducing anxiety, or gaining insight into past patterns that influence their present behavior. For couples or families, goals might include improving communication, resolving conflict, or strengthening connections. I often use a strength-based approach to help clients identify and build on their existing resources, while also offering new strategies for overcoming obstacles.

Ultimately, clients typically leave sessions with a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships, enhanced coping skills, and an increased ability to navigate difficult situations. The goal is not just short-term relief but lasting change that leads to healthier relationships and a more fulfilling life. I believe in empowering my clients to continue making progress beyond our work together, equipping them with the skills to handle future challenges independently.
