Great to meet you!

My name is Patience Dikibo, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. I provide compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adolescents, adults, and seniors — meeting each person with the attentiveness and respect their experience deserves.

My primary areas of focus include adjustment disorder, alcohol and substance use, ADD/ADHD, bipolar disorder, and depression. I also work with clients navigating anxiety and PTSD. I am particularly experienced in supporting individuals who are working through major life transitions, behavioral challenges, or the psychological impact of substance use — areas that are often complex, deeply personal, and deserving of thoughtful, non-judgmental care.

I believe in the power of meeting people where they are and helping them build the skills, insight, and motivation they need to move forward — at their own pace, in their own way.

My approach to therapy

My approach is structured, strengths-based, and always adapted to the individual. I draw on three core modalities, each chosen for the specific value it brings:

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize and shift the thought patterns and behaviors that are contributing to depression, anxiety, PTSD, or mood instability. CBT gives clients concrete tools they can apply between sessions — building real, lasting change over time.

I use Motivational Interviewing to support clients who may feel ambivalent about change — particularly those working through substance use or adjusting to major life shifts. Rather than pushing a prescribed direction, I help clients explore their own values and motivations, building the internal drive that makes change sustainable.

I use Behavior Management Therapy to help clients — especially adolescents and those managing ADD/ADHD or adjustment difficulties — develop practical strategies for regulating behavior, building routines, and responding more effectively to life's demands.

Together, these approaches allow me to address not just how a person feels, but how they think and act — which is where lasting improvement takes root.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want you to feel at ease. You don't need to arrive with the right words or a clear diagnosis — just a willingness to share what's been going on.

We'll talk about what's brought you in, how long things have felt difficult, and what your daily life looks and feels like right now. I'll ask some questions about your mental health and medical history, but this is a conversation, not an evaluation — I'm here to understand you, not just assess you.

I'll also ask about what you're hoping to get from our work together. That might be relief from symptoms, better coping tools, help with a difficult transition, or something harder to name. Whatever it is, it's worth exploring — and it will shape the direction of your care.

By the end of our first meeting, we'll have a beginning plan: what we're working toward, how we'll get there, and what to expect. Every step we take will be transparent and collaborative. You are a partner in your own care — not a passive recipient of it.
