Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Patricia De Leon, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Corpus Christi, Texas. I have spent 17 years in education, including 13 years as a school counselor, which has given me a deep understanding of the academic, social, and emotional challenges children and teens face today.

I work with children and adolescents ages 3 to 18, supporting those struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, stress, and school or life transitions. My approach is person-centered, and I focus on building trust while helping clients connect their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where young people feel understood and empowered.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is person-centered and collaborative, with a strong foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I focus on building a trusting relationship so clients feel safe, understood, and supported. In the early sessions, I take time to get to know each child or adolescent and work closely with families to set meaningful, achievable goals.

Using CBT strategies, I help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and develop practical coping skills. My background in education and school counseling allows me to support youth within the context of their academic, social, and family environments. I tailor therapy to each client’s developmental needs and strengths, creating a supportive space that encourages growth and resilience.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment focused on building trust. I take time to get to know the child or adolescent and, when appropriate, involve parents or caregivers to better understand concerns, strengths, and goals. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what’s been challenging, and what you hope to gain from counseling.

I explain the therapy process in a developmentally appropriate way and answer any questions so everyone feels comfortable and informed. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and creating a plan that supports emotional growth, coping skills, and overall well-being.
