Great to meet you!

I started my journey to become a therapist at Sam Houston State University, where I got my Bachelor's in Psychology and Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since then, I have worked in the field for about 4 years, mostly using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients through their struggles with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.

I find that I am skilled at putting myself in another's shoes and helping individuals come out of hard times stronger. I can click with individuals and sympathize with whatever situation they might be going through. Furthermore, being bilingual has allowed me to provide guidance, support, and a sense of home to those who are adjusting to a new environment.

I am passionate about helping others with mental health issues. Through the years, I have been able to lend a listening ear, words of encouragement, and guidance to individuals in need, and have learned how to be most helpful to those struggling through a variety of life-changing situations, such as the death of a loved one and sexual abuse.

My approach to therapy

My approach is to utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, motivational Interviewing, and positive psychology to get individuals connected to and comfortable with talking about their struggles with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, so they may process and learn to cope with them in a way that can enrich their daily lives.

What you can expect from me

Within the first session, I usually encourage clients to just take the time that they need to tell me what they would like me to know about them and what they are going through, ask me any questions they may have, and collaborate with me on creating their goals for treatment moving forward. I typically like to provide a warm, open-minded environment that allows clients to feel safe sharing their stories and encouraged in their ability to get the tools they need to achieve their goals.
