Great to meet you!

With everything going on in today’s world it’s easy for families to lose their way. Managing daily responsibilities, keeping up with technology, and trying to lead a healthy lifestyle is a tough balancing act, and you’re not alone. I can offer help by providing guidance for children, teens, and families who are looking for support with life’s challenges and making positive changes.

I have a passion for working with elementary through high school and early college ages where the terrain is rocky and may feel like a roller coaster. This generation falls in an exciting and challenging period where cell phones, tablets, and all sorts of information (sometimes too much information) is just one click away. Parents often worry that their family has become more disconnected, low self-esteem in teens can emerge with social media comparisons, risky decision making with peers may increase, and kids may prefer being on their tablet instead of going outside with friends.

I have specialized experience working in a residential treatment program for youth ages 11-16, alternative education program, college counseling, and outpatient family, individual, and group therapy. Moreover, I have conducted comprehensive evaluations to assess for learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety, mood disorders, and more. When I am not at the office you can find me enjoying family game night, playing basketball, or attempting new Pinterest recipes. If you feel like I may be a good fit for your child, teen, or family or if you have questions please feel free to give me a call or fill out the contact form below and we can schedule a free consultation to talk more!

A bit about my approach to therapy

I take on a family and interpersonal approach to therapy, which means we will not only work to make positive changes as an individual, but also make changes with how you communicate and interact with the people around you. I balance being straight-forward and direct with being warm and supportive, and have an appreciation for humor and sarcasm. More importantly, I work to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment to make it easier to open up, push out of your comfort zone, and take steps towards personal growth and wellness.

What you can expect from our first session

In therapy I will help your child learn healthier ways to deal with stress instead of lashing out on others or withdrawing. I also work with parents to provide support and tools to better connect with their kids and spend more time enjoying each other’s company instead of arguing. We will work together to create a plan to help your child become more successful at home, school, and with their peers.
