Great to meet you!

I was raised in a large, functional family in Los Angeles. I have been interested in understanding people from early on in my life. While attending the University of New Mexico, my studies included Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology. I loved New Mexico with its unique mixture of Indigenous, Mexican, and people from all over the United States and world.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher for 25 years, and raised my own family of nine children.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I am also certified in EMDR to better help people deal with past traumas. I also worked for years doing therapy in schools, elementary through high school age.

I love people! The adventures of my life are often focused around learning about various cultures and hearing the stories of people's lives beyond Northern California, I have traveled to almost all of the 50 states and 40 different countries. I have a Christian world-view.

You will find me to be welcoming, approachable, and non-judgmental.

My approach to therapy

I use a Cognitive Behavior and Solutions Focused approach to therapy. For couples, I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. Knowing you and your family's history of past struggles and support systems will help me understand the reasons for the struggles you face currently. Together we will discover ways for you to make healthy changes that will allow you find peace not only for yourself, but, also in your relationships with family and others.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, you will notice a calming, loving, genuinely caring, non-judgmental person who really likes people. I try to create a warm, non-threatening environment where both men, women, and children feel comfortable.
