Great to meet you!

Living with bipolar disorder, ADHD, depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges can affect nearly every part of your life. Finding someone who listens, understands your concerns, and helps you navigate treatment can make a meaningful difference.

I'm Patrick Fahey, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who works with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. My primary focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, with particular experience and confidence in treating bipolar disorder. I also frequently work with patients experiencing ADHD, depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns.

I understand that finding the right medication or treatment plan isn't always straightforward. My goal is to help you understand your options, feel comfortable asking questions, and participate in decisions about your care.

Mental health treatment should be collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to the individual. Whether you're seeking treatment for the first time, struggling with symptoms despite previous treatment, or looking for ongoing medication management, I want you to feel heard, respected, and supported.

You don't have to navigate these challenges alone. I'm here to work alongside you as we identify practical steps toward greater stability, improved functioning, and a better quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach combines evidence-based medication management, thoughtful assessment, and practical therapeutic strategies. Effective care begins with listening, asking meaningful questions, and understanding how symptoms affect your daily life.

I bring experience from my nursing career, supervised psychiatric clinical training, and more than a decade of advocating for a family member with complex mental health needs. These experiences strengthened my assessment, medication monitoring, and clinical interviewing skills.

If you wish to purse therapy, we can decide what works best for you based upon your goals and concerns. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy explores thought and behavior patterns, while Motivational Interviewing helps address uncertainty about change. Problem Solving Therapy focuses on developing practical solutions, while Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy techniques support emotional awareness and regulation. For ADHD, I incorporate strategies for organization, task initiation, and executive functioning.

Medication management remains my primary focus. Together, we'll review symptoms, discuss treatment options, monitor effectiveness and side effects, and adjust care as needed. My goal is to provide individualized treatment where you feel informed, supported, and actively involved in decisions.

What you can expect from me

Starting with a new psychiatric provider can feel intimidating, especially if you've had difficulty finding effective treatment or aren't sure what to expect. My goal is to make your first appointment a comfortable, respectful conversation where you feel heard and have time to ask questions.

We'll begin by discussing what brings you in, the symptoms you're experiencing, and how they're affecting your daily life. I'll ask about your medical and mental health history, previous diagnoses, medications, treatment experiences, sleep, and other factors that may be contributing to your concerns.

If you're currently taking psychiatric medications, we'll discuss how well they're working, any side effects you've noticed, and whether adjustments may be helpful. If you're considering medication for the first time, I'll explain the available options and answer your questions about potential benefits, risks, and alternatives.

You don't need to know exactly what to say or have all the answers prepared. You can share concerns at your own pace, let me know what you're comfortable discussing, and help identify which issues we should prioritize. We'll work together to develop a plan that reflects your needs and preferences.

By the end of our first session, we'll discuss my initial assessment and possible next steps. These may include medication management, additional evaluation, practical coping strategies, or psychotherapy when appropriate. You won't be pressured to make treatment decisions before you understand your options.

My goal is for you to leave feeling informed, supported, and confident about our next steps together.
