Great to meet you!

I’m a psychology professor and a licensed psychotherapist with experience across community-based settings, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient clinics. I’m also the President-Elect of the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor, which informs my warm, humanistic approach to therapy. I take a person-centered, collaborative approach and keep therapy real, with no clinical monologues or fluffy platitudes. My goal is to create a space that’s warm, honest, and grounded in science, where meaningful change actually happens.

My approach to therapy

I specialize in mind-body and integrative mental health. My training in mind-body medicine comes from my doctoral work at Saybrook Univeristy, specialized training at Harvard University, and mentorship in humanistic approaches by THE Dr. Patch Adams. I help clients navigate stress, trauma, and emotional challenges using evidence-based therapy and a holistic understanding of how the brain, body, and environment interact. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in research, with an emphasis on autonomy, resilience, and meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask about your history, current concerns, goals, and what has or hasn’t helped in the past. We’ll also talk about how therapy works, set expectations, and begin outlining a plan that fits your needs. My goal is to create a collaborative, grounded space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered from the start without all the awkwardness or sterile clinical jargon.
