Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr. Patrick Hou (he/him), a psychiatrist based in Brooklyn, NY, working with adults to support their mental health through life’s complexities. I graduated from the Keck School of Medicine at USC in Los Angeles, and completed residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and fellowship Memorial Sloan Kettering. I have been in practice since 2016, including work in the hospital setting at NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn and in outpatient telepsychiatry. As a cancer survivor, I bring both clinical experience and personal understanding to my work, with a focus on cancer psychiatry, psychopharmacology, the mind-body connection, and LGBT mental health.

My approach to therapy

I approach psychiatry with the belief that every person’s story matters. Our life experiences shape how we see the world, and understanding those experiences is key to providing meaningful care. I take time to get to know my clients so I can tailor treatment to their individual needs and goals. My care is holistic—I consider factors like physical health, nutrition, exercise, social support, and spirituality, all of which play a role in mental well-being. While medication can be helpful, I see it as just one of many tools we can use together to support healing and growth.

What you can expect from me

In our sessions, my goal is for you to feel truly heard and supported. You’ll have a space where your experiences are respected and where you have an advocate walking alongside you. I aim to empower you in meaningful ways—whether it’s helping you set boundaries in relationships, navigate a new diagnosis, manage workplace challenges, or make informed decisions about treatment. You’ll receive recommendations rooted in clinical experience and tailored to your unique needs, so you can move forward with clarity, confidence, and a greater sense of control over your mental health.
