Great to meet you!

Sometimes, even when you are doing the best to keep moving forward, anxiety, depression, or the effects of your past experiences can make everyday life feel heavier that it needs to be. You may find yourself feeling overwhelmed by stress, struggling to quiet your thoughts, or noticing that experiences form you past continue to affect how you feel and respond to situations today. I I work with adults and seniors experiencing anxiety, depression, stress management challenges, trauma, and PTSD. These concerns can affect your relationships, confidence and your ability to feel present in your daily life, especially when several challenges begin to overlap. With ten years experience, I believe therapy can offer a supportive space to better understand what you are experiencing, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and begin developing healthier ways to cope. You do not have to navigate everything on your own, and together we can work toward helping you feel more grounded, capable, and confident in your life. I am also a previous law enforcement officer and correctional officer, and I feel that every first responder needs a safe place to help get their stress and trauma out. I am a certified first responder counselor and I know what you face day-in and day-out including paramedics, firefighters, police officers, dispatchers/911 dispatchers, and correctional officers.

My approach to therapy

Our work will make room for both what you are experiencing today and the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that have shaped how you cope with life's challenges. We'll explore how anxiety, depression, stress, trauma and PTSD may be effecting your emotional well-being and your ability to feel safe, balanced, and in control. I may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you recognize patterns in your thoughts and behaviors that contribute to distress and practice healthier ways of responding, Motivational Interviewing to explore your reasons for change and strengthen you confidence in taking steps towards your goals, and behavioral approaches to help you develop practical coping strategies and build habits that support your well-being. Our sessions will be collaborative, respectful, and focused on your individual needs, giving you space to process difficult experiences while also developing tools you can use in everyday life. The goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to help you better understand yourself and create changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.

What you can expect from me

You do not need everything figured out before beginning therapy. During our first sessions, we will take time to understand what brought you here, what has been most difficult lately, and what you hope will feel different in your life. Each session will run approximately an hour and I typically try to meet weekly for a month and then slowly transition to bi-weekly and then once a month. I also leave it up to the individual person as to how they are feeling and how often they feel they want to be seen. Together, we will identify goals that feel realistic and meaningful and decide where it makes the most sense to begin. You an expect me to listen without judgement, help you explore difficult thoughts and emotions, and work alongside you to find strategies that fit your needs and circumstances. Progress may look like feeling less overwhelmed by anxiety, finding more balance when depression makes everyday tasks difficult, managing stress with greater confidence, or processing past experiences so they have less influence over your present. We will continue checking in on your goals and adjusting our work as your needs evolve. Therapy is a process, and you deserve support that meets you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be. When you are ready, you can schedule your first session with me through Headway. I look forward to meeting you soon.
