Paula Tirado-Mansilla

I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's degree from Columbia University with a concentration in Policy and a specialization in working with children and families. I received extensive training in complex trauma and integrated multi-system care at Mental Health Providers of Western Queens, a successful school-based nonprofit mental health clinic. For the past four years, I have been running individual and group sessions with children ages 5-21 addressing a variety of challenges including behavioral problems at school, complex family dynamics, and past or recent trauma. I also provide individual therapy to adult women ages 18-58 dealing with past trauma, relationship issues and identity-related struggles.

I believe in tailoring therapy to your goals and aspirations. I understand that many of us do not have positive role models who can guide us in creating the path we want to follow, especially if you come from a traumatic past. I want to help you in understanding your own emotions and reactions so that you can become more in tune with who you are and how to chart your own course.

During our first session, I will ask you about your life goals and what you would like to get out of your therapy sessions. To get a full picture of who you are, I will ask a few basic questions about your physical and mental health history. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where you feel comfortable sharing your challenges and vulnerabilities on a weekly basis.
