Great to meet you!

I’m Pauline Kiragu, PMHNP-BC, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and founder of Joyspot Psychiatry, providing compassionate, evidence-based telehealth psychiatric care for adolescents (12+), adults, and families in Texas and Washington.

With over 16 years of nursing experience, I specialize in psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management, with a collaborative, patient-centered approach. My goal is to help patients feel heard, supported, and empowered as we develop a clear and personalized treatment plan.

At Joyspot Psychiatry, care is rooted in cultural humility, trauma-informed principles, and respect for each person’s lived experience. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, and co-occurring conditions, including substance use.

All services are provided via secure telehealth. Appointments on Headway are full psychiatric intake visits; complimentary consultation calls are not offered.

My approach to therapy

My approach is solution-oriented, collaborative, and evidence-based. I partner closely with patients to understand their concerns, goals, and preferences, and to develop treatment plans that are both clinically sound and practical for daily life.

Care may include comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, and coordination with therapists or other providers when appropriate. Treatment decisions are made together, using shared decision-making and ongoing monitoring for effectiveness and safety.

I integrate trauma-informed and culturally responsive care principles, recognizing how stress, life experiences, identity, and social context influence mental health. My role is to provide thoughtful guidance, medical expertise, and steady support throughout the treatment process.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding your symptoms, history, and treatment goals. We’ll review relevant medical and mental health information, discuss diagnostic impressions, and outline potential treatment options.

You can expect a respectful, unhurried conversation where your questions are welcome. By the end of the visit, you’ll have a clearer understanding of next steps and a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
