Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Peter Evers.

I've been a social worker for more than 30 years and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker since 1998. During that time, I've had the privilege of sitting and talking with hundreds of people who were trying to make sense of something difficult in their lives.

One thing I've learned is that very few of us get through life without struggling at some point. We can find ourselves anxious or depressed, dealing with a loss or a relationship that isn't going well, facing a big change, or sometimes just feeling that life isn't quite working the way we would like it to. And sometimes it's hard even to put your finger on what's wrong.

That's often where therapy can help.

I was trained in the UK, where I received my Master's degree in Social Work, and I've spent my career working in many different settings — private practice, mental health centers, hospitals and human service organizations. Those experiences have taught me a great deal, but I think I've learned just as much from the people I've worked with.

My approach to therapy

I'm not someone who believes a therapist should sit quietly and occasionally nod. I like therapy to be a conversation. I'll listen, I'll ask questions, I'll offer my thoughts, and sometimes I'll challenge you to look at something a little differently. We'll also probably laugh from time to time. Most importantly, we'll work together to understand what's going on and what might help.

What you can expect from me

You don't need to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. In fact, that's rather the point.

If you're wondering whether we might work well together, I'd be very happy to talk with you.

The first time we meet is always an open, getting to know you session which is aimed at making you feel comfortable because I believe you have to be pretty brave to come forward in the first place
