Great to meet you!

I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 36 years. I am a clinical psychologist with a PhD from Duke University, and postdoctoral training in couple and family therapy. I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and anger management; with troubled kids and teens and parents seeking new parenting techniques; with people having trouble getting organized and paying attention; and with people challenged in their ability to form and maintain healthy relationships. I specialize in couple therapy, helping couples to communicate and solve problems more effectively.

My approach to therapy

All people seeking therapy need empathy, insight, and understanding. But insight and understanding are never enough to promote lasting change. My approach to therapy draws from empirically-supported techniques to create a therapy tailored to the specific client. I would characterize my approach as an action/insight approach.

What you can expect from me

In a first session can expect to be warm, welcoming, and understanding, with a focus on identifying what needs to change in their behavior to promote lasting change.
