Great to meet you!

I earned a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Fransisco School of Education in 1993. I became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2002. I utilize a relaxed approach. I work to utilize the appropriate treatment approach according to the particular problems/complaints that bring a customer to treatment. Regardless of what treatment model I employ, I'm nonjudgmental, warm, compassionate and genuine when working with clients. When I work with customer, I provide information not just on how a given intervention works but why it works. In addition to over 30 years providing psychotherapy in a professional setting I bring my 65 years of life experience into the room.

My approach to therapy

Depending on the nature of the issue that is to be addressed, I will utilize a cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, dialectical behavior, mindfuless-based, or family systems approach to therapy. I will sometimes utilize a Socratic method of questioning to allow clients to come to their own conclusions with regard to what solution works best for them. I solicit from clients what goal(s) they wish to achieve if treatment is successful and I generally work in a systemic fashion to monitor progress toward the stated goal(s) working collaboratively with my client.

What you can expect from me

A sense of movement forward (progress) toward the goals they have expressed they want to achieve. Often, I will prescribe home practice assignments to my clients to consolidate work done in sessions.
