Great to meet you!

I specialize in working with older adolescents and adults of all ages who are engaging in the life challenges brought on by anxiety, self-esteem/self doubt, life transitions such as divorce, career change, loss, relocation, and family dynamics. My therapeutic work draws on decades of direct clinical practice and twenty years as a college social work professor and advisor helping students and their families plan and navigate their journey.

My approach emphasizes pragmatic problem-solving and goal setting while fostering personal accountability and self awareness. This is accomplished through a solution focused and strength based approach. Our relationship will begin by creating a safe, comfortable and supportive environment which seeks to engage the unique needs of the individual and their situation. My intention is to help you become the best version of yourself and empower you to achieve your goals.

After graduating from Skidmore College with a degree in Psychology, I did my graduate work at the University of South Carolina and my field work at the Medical University of South Carolina, Institute of Psychiatry. After graduating, I spent five years as a clinician in a free walk-in mental health clinic and three years as the director of an Adolescent youth shelter. For the past twenty years, I have been a professor and the Director of Field Education in Skidmore College's Social Work Program. I have expertise in counseling young adults and their families through the dynamic changes of life transitions. Throughout my professional life I have been engaged in clinical work with individuals and families and as a consultant in the private sector in the areas of strategic marketing, problem solving and goal setting.
