Great to meet you!

I take a mindfulness-based approach, combining ancient wisdom systems with modern therapeutic interventions. I work with clients to develop concrete strategies that they can apply to whatever challenges they are facing. Along the way, I help my clients develop the skills (that is, the virtues) to live more fully and joyfully in the present.

My approach to therapy

Therapy is not about changing anything essential about you because nothing essential about you can change. Instead, therapy is the journey to discover that essential self, make peace with its limitations, and embrace its possibilities. I utilize what are known as third-wave cognitive behavioral strategies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

What you can expect from me

I work with clients to develop concrete strategies that they can apply to whatever challenges they are facing. These strategies include: (a) mindfulness practices to more fully participate in the present moment and (b) the development of traits that both ancient wisdom and modern research have demonstrated improve the quality of our lives, for example, compassion (including compassion for ourselves), gratitude, and equanimity.
