Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Petya Randelova, PsyD, a Licensed Psychologist in Illinois and authorized through PSYPACT. Before launching my solo practice, I held leadership roles in a group practice and served as Director of Training for four years, where I trained and supported clinicians in trauma-informed, relational care and strong clinical practice standards. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and EMDR trained.

I work with adults ages 21 and up who look capable on the outside but feel stretched thin inside. Many clients come in because they feel stuck in people-pleasing, burnout, overthinking, shutdown, or repeating relationship loops. I often support clients navigating interpersonal chaos and complex relationship dynamics, and I provide affirming care for LGBTQIA+ clients. Sessions are virtual for clients located in Illinois or PSYPACT participating states at the time of session.

My approach to therapy

My approach is depth-oriented, trauma-focused, and grounded in both relational work and nervous system support. We slow things down and get specific about what is happening inside you and in your relationships. We map the loop, what triggers it, what it protects, and what keeps it going. From there, we build steadier regulation skills you can use in real time and practice new ways of responding that translate into your day-to-day life.

EMDR is available as part of treatment when it supports your goals and the timing is right. The work is collaborative, structured, and paced. You will not be pushed faster than your system can handle. We focus on clarity, containment, and lasting change rather than quick fixes.

What you can expect from me

Before the first appointment, you will complete pre-intake paperwork, including a brief questionnaire and a few short measures. The first intake session is a broad, higher-level overview of what brings you in and what you are experiencing in the present. The second intake session goes more in-depth into relevant history and context so we can build a clear plan for the work.

You do not need to have your story organized, and you do not need to label your experience as trauma for therapy to be helpful. We will set goals, discuss pacing, and identify early areas of focus. Most clients leave the first session feeling more oriented and clearer about next steps.
