Great to meet you!

Hey, my name is Phil Caruso. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor that’s been in the field of psychotherapy for over 17 years. My journey helping others has brought me to a variety of settings that include partial programs, emergency rooms, and the homes of the clients I’ve served.

My approach to therapy

My training experience is heavily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and I project this through the lens of Humanistic Counseling. This means that I’ll help you identify negative thought patterns and better tolerate distress, all while ensuring I’m being genuine, supportive and never judgmental.

What you can expect from me

Typically, I employ an approach that centers around teaching you to build a greater awareness of what you tell yourself about the world around you as well as your own personal situation (self-talk) in order to help you learn to challenge your negative thinking. Together, we will identify goals and I’ll ensure that you’re steering the direction of the journey. I may have a lot of training and experience but you’re the expert on yourself.
