Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Phillip Jean-Louis Jr., and I’ve been dedicated to the field of mental health since 2010. I bring over a decade of experience working with individuals and families in a wide range of settings.

I hold dual Master’s degrees in Professional Counseling and Addictions Counseling, which allows me to support clients through a variety of challenges with a well-rounded, compassionate approach.

What truly defines me as a counselor is my authenticity, transparency, and warmth. My clients often tell me they feel like they’re talking to a trusted friend or family member. I’m here to listen, empathize, and provide guidance when it’s needed — always with your goals in mind.

I'm deeply goal-driven, and I genuinely love watching my clients grow. But it's not just about the destination — I believe in the beauty of the process. Some days we’ll laugh, some days we may cry, but together we’ll build resilience and create meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded in authentic connection, collaboration, and purpose. I create a space where clients feel safe to be themselves — without judgment. I bring my genuine self into the room, because I believe that real, honest connection is the foundation for meaningful change.

I take an integrative approach, drawing from a variety of evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, while also incorporating elements of family systems and trauma-informed care when appropriate. I tailor my methods to each client’s unique needs, goals, and pace.

I see therapy as a partnership — we work together toward your goals. Whether we're unpacking deep emotions, building coping skills, or celebrating progress, I aim to meet you where you are while gently challenging you to grow.

Therapy with me can be deep and reflective, but it can also include laughter and lightness. Healing isn’t linear — but with trust, honesty, and resilience, we can walk the path together.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my main goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and understood. I know that starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I create a space that’s welcoming, judgment-free, and centered entirely around you.

We’ll take time to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you'd like to work on. You can share as much or as little as you feel ready to — there’s no pressure to "have it all figured out."

I’ll also explain my approach, answer any questions you have about the therapy process, and work with you to begin identifying your goals. By the end of our first session, you’ll have a clearer picture of what therapy with me looks like and how we can move forward — together.

Most importantly, you'll leave knowing that you're not alone, and that you're supported every step of the way.
