Phyllis A. Burgin, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work from George Mason University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has over 10 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including outpatient clinic, crisis intervention, inpatient psychiatric, school-based and community-based counseling.

My approach to therapy

Phyllis uses a variety of modalities which incorporate best practice from DBT, Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Short-term Problem Solving, Person-Centered, Functioning Family Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Motivational Interviewing with children age 4 and up and families.

She believes in a strength-based approach that is holistic, integrative and client-centered. She provides a non-judgmental and compassionate atmosphere in which clients can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, images and beliefs that may be keeping them stuck.
