Great to meet you!

R. Bares, MSEd, LPC, NCC

Sometimes the hardest part of therapy is giving yourself permission to ask the questions you’ve been avoiding. That kind of vulnerability takes courage — and often, a kind of psychological safety that many people have never been offered.

My role is to create that space. I believe therapy works best when it’s rooted in curiosity, connection, and practical tools. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that no longer serve you and reconnect with the parts of you that still want something more.

When we start asking the right questions in the right environment, it all adds up.

My approach to therapy

  • Person-Centered Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Mindfulness-Based Techniques

I tailor each session to your needs, blending these frameworks based on your goals, values, and preferences.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a calm, collaborative space where we clarify your goals and start building a direction that feels aligned with your needs.

If you’re open to it, I offer a range of options around how much technology we use in-session — from traditional talk therapy to advanced EMDR protocols supported by HIPAA-compliant tech tools.

We’ll establish a working plan and revisit it around the 90-day mark to ensure therapy is moving in a direction that’s helpful and meaningful for you.

(For EMDR clients only)

I use the EMDRIA-approved 8-phase protocol developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. Whether you’re brand new to EMDR or already familiar with it, we’ll move at your pace and style.

(Telehealth only at this time)

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, down-to-earth therapist, I’d be honored to work with you.
