Great to meet you!

Let’s face it, growing up can be tough...and young folks can be unapologetically themselves. It isn’t until we are older that we have the ability to reflect on what we may have needed in those most nuanced moments.

I work mostly with kids and teens dealing with a variety of issues, from navigating school stress and peer pressure to dealing with deeper emotional concerns like anxiety and depression. As adults, we tend to get better at disguising our struggles. Instead of saying, "I'm overwhelmed" or "I don't feel anything," we say things like, "I'm fine," "I'm just tired," or my personal favorite, "It's been a busy week"—for the 25th week in a row. Therapy can offer a space where you don't have to pretend everything is under control and can explore what's really going on.

Whether we’re talking through a challenge, playing out scenarios, building resilience, or finding ways to laugh through the tough stuff, we’ll collaborate to find the best approach for their needs. It takes courage to reach out for help, and at the end of the day, therapy isn’t just about talking -it’s about connecting.

My approach to therapy

My approach blends attachment theory, a strengths-based perspective, and a whole lot of not taking ourselves too seriously. This means that I understand the vital role that early relationships play in shaping emotional health by creating a warm, nurturing environment. I encourage open communication and trust. Ultimately, I firmly believe that we are all seeking to feel safe, secure, and connected. In addition, my practice is flexible and incorporates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play-informed interventions, and mindfulness techniques to address each young person’s individual needs, to name a few.

What you can expect from me

A Little More About What I Offer:

  • Child and Adolescent Therapy: Every young person has the potential to grow and thrive. Whether they’re dealing with anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, or just the ups and downs of adolescence, I help them identify and build on their strengths—so they can better navigate life’s obstacles. Therapy is about empowering them, not just fixing problems. Plus, we’ll find ways to have a little fun and lighten the mood along the way.
  • Attachment-Based Therapy: Early relationships set the foundation for how we view ourselves and relate to others. I engage in helping young people build secure, trusting relationships with trusted adults, which in turn helps them grow emotionally. By strengthening these bonds, we create a foundation of safety that empowers young people to face challenges with confidence.
  • Strengths-Based and Holistic Approach: Rather than focusing solely on what's “wrong,” I look at what’s right with your young person. Together, we’ll highlight their strengths, resilience, and the coping strategies they already have (even if they don’t always recognize them). I use a holistic approach that looks at the young person as a whole person—emotional, physical, and social well-being—all while creating a safe space for open dialogue and growth. And remember, therapy isn’t about being perfect—it’s about progress, and sometimes, laughter helps too!
