Great to meet you!

My name is Rachel and I specialize in chronic illness adjustment. I have been a therapist for 15+ years working with people living with chronic illness and their family members. I also work with people living with heart failure, COPD, cancer, dementia, diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, chronic pain, and even people nearing the end of their lives.

People living with chronic illnesses often can be neglected by healthcare systems. Life gets turned upside down by the onset of a chronic illness. It affects every part of a person's life, from their work to their home to their sense of who they are. Chronic illness is a serious adjustment that often needs extra support that healthcare systems don't provide.

If you or someone you love is struggling with figuring out how to live with a chronic illness, reach out to me! We could meet and discuss options and about your specific illness. You don't have to struggle alone!

My approach to therapy

I work alongside people who are learning how to live their best life with chronic illness. I help people move from having their illness define their life to finding how to define their life for themselves. During our first few sessions, we talk about how things are now, and then we move into how you want things to be. Most people feel improvement in their mood after the first couple of months.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, we talk about why you are interested in therapy, your specific illness and illness history, and what you want to do in therapy. I use a combination of different skills to tailor my approach to support you.. I frequently use a blend of interpersonal psychotherapy, brief solution focused therapy, and narrative therapy techniques depending on what's the right fit for you!
