Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Rachel Salazar and I am a licensed clinical social worker licensed in the state of Illinois. I work with diverse populations from age 16 and older, assisting in the management of anxiety, depression, stress, and dual diagnoses. I earned my MSW from the University of Southern California with a concentration in mental health and a sub-concentration of military and veterans.

My approach to therapy

With a foundation in evidence-based care, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Therapy, with elements of other modalities to create a personalized and effective approach for each client. I excel at assisting clients in recognizing and reshaping negative thought patterns, collaborating closely with them to process emotions and encourage personal development. My style is compassionate, supportive, and grounded in respect for each client’s lived experience.

What you can expect from me

I like to start with an introductory session where you will be provided with an opportunity to share details about yourself. I will help create an environment that is warm and welcoming so you are able to feel safe, seen, and understood. We will start by learning about you, your specific needs, and how we can start working towards your goals. Getting started with therapy demonstrates strength and courage, and I am proud of you for taking this first step!
