Great to meet you!

I’m Rachel Schimmel, a licensed clinical social worker with 15+ years of experience specializing in anxiety and couples therapy. I work with individuals and partners who feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, or disconnected from themselves or each other. My approach is focused on helping you understand what’s really going on beneath the anxiety, frustration, or resentment.

My approach to therapy

Having personally witnessed the positive impact of therapeutic relationships, I was inspired to pursue a career where I could help build others up. Combining this with my passion for advocacy, social work was a natural path. My job experience offered opportunities to work with a range of populations spanning all a range of populations from foster care to family court. Through this, I developed my own unique style as a therapist with a foundation of empathy and warmth. My experience has guided me to where I am today, and continues to provide useful insight and knowledge.

What you can expect from me

I am relationship-forward in my approach. That means I focus not only on the specific symptoms or challenges you’re facing—like anxiety, burnout, disconnection, or overwhelm—but also on how these struggles show up in your relationships, including the one you have with yourself. I want you to feel like therapy isn’t just about insight—it’s about change. That might look like learning to communicate more openly with your partner, identifying the anxious patterns that are keeping you stuck, or figuring out what you actually need in order to feel like yourself again. We’ll move at your pace, and I’ll be right there with you—sometimes gently challenging, sometimes simply holding space, always supporting your goals.
