Great to meet you!

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable enough to genuinely be yourself. I’m a down-to-earth and approachable therapist, and my goal is to create a space where you feel supported and understood without feeling judged. I also believe therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy—there is absolutely room for humor and being human.

I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals. I have extensive experience working in mental health, particularly with adolescents, young adults, and families. Much of my professional background has been in residential treatment, where I have supported individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, relationship difficulties, and family conflict.

One thing my experience has taught me is that behavior usually makes a lot more sense once we understand what is happening underneath it. I enjoy helping clients understand themselves better, recognize patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and find healthier ways to cope, communicate, and move forward.

I especially enjoy working with people who may have had a difficult experience with therapy in the past—or who aren't completely sure they want to be in therapy in the first place. You don't have to come in knowing exactly what you want to work on. We can figure that out together.

My approach to therapy

My approach is supportive, collaborative, and practical. I don’t believe therapy should feel like someone sitting across from you telling you what you’re doing wrong or giving you a list of things you “should” be doing.

Instead, we’ll work together to understand what you’re experiencing, where certain patterns may come from, and what you would actually like to change. I draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches, but I tailor therapy to the individual rather than expecting every person to respond to the same approach.

I believe in balancing validation with accountability. Sometimes you need a safe place to talk and feel understood, and sometimes you need someone who will gently challenge you to look at something differently. There is room for both.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know each other. I don’t expect you to walk in and immediately share the hardest parts of your life with a stranger. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been going on recently, what you hope might be different, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past.

You’re also welcome to ask me questions and get a feel for whether I’m the right therapist for you. We may identify some initial goals, but you don’t need to have everything figured out before you come in. We’ll take it from there together.
