Great to meet you!

Welcome! Taking the step to seek support is a powerful act of courage. I am RachelLee Demetroules, an independently licensed social worker in the state of Ohio. Over my 9 years as a mental health clinician, I have dedicated my career to walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s complexities, heal from past wounds, and build fulfilling lives. I'm currently accepting new clients ages 18 and older with convenient evening appointments available.

I hold a master’s degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University (2019).

I believe that true healing and growth happen within a real, human connection—and that means I bring my full, authentic self into the room. My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and collaborative and I am straightforward and active in sessions. This creates a compassionate environment, where you can bring your messiest thoughts without fear of judgment. There is no topic too taboo, no feeling too strange, and no life experience too unconventional for our sessions. You can show up exactly as you are. I will gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you, ask the tough questions, and point out your blind spots. But don't worry, we will navigate the heavy stuff together, and we will definitely use a sense of humor along the way. Laughter is a vital part of resilience, and sometimes a bit of shared humor is exactly what's needed to break through a tough moment.

My approach to therapy

My background includes mental health therapy across several practice settings and populations. I specialize in helping adults navigate a variety of challenges, including Anxiety & Stress Management, Depression & Mood Support, Suicidality, Trauma Recovery, Emotional Regulation, Life Transitions, and Veteran and Military related issues. Every individual’s journey is unique, which is why I utilize an integrative approach to counseling. My practice is grounded in evidence-based modalities, customized to meet your specific needs. I primarily draw from the following frameworks:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We will work together to identify and reframe negative or unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, empowering you to develop healthier coping mechanisms for daily stressors.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): This approach focuses on your strengths and resources. We will look toward the future, targeting manageable, actionable goals to help you achieve measurable change efficiently.
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): For individuals navigating the aftermath of trauma, CPT offers a structured way to evaluate and modify beliefs related to the traumatic event preventing you from healing, helping you regain a sense of safety and control.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy: While our work is active and goal-oriented, I also draw from psychodynamic principles. This allows us to gently explore how your past experiences, unconscious patterns, and early relationships might be influencing your present thoughts, emotions, and relationship dynamics.

What you can expect from me

Entering therapy can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I like to keep our initial time together clear and supportive. Our first session focuses primarily on information gathering and building therapeutic rapport. Together, we will explore your personal history, discuss what brings you to therapy, and identify specific areas for treatment focus. This foundational session ensures we align our goals and design a path forward that feels meaningful to you. Whether you are looking to process past trauma, overcome current challenges, or achieve specific personal goals, I am here to walk alongside you. Let’s work together to build the insight and tools you need to create a fulfilling life.
