Great to meet you!

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I believe it’s important for you to know who I am, how I practice, and what you can expect when working with me.

I am an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized graduate-level training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across the lifespan. My background includes experience working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns, and I am trained to provide both medication management and supportive psychotherapy. My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health. I maintain national board certification and participate in ongoing continuing education to stay current with evidence-based practices.

I have experience treating depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders and panic disorder, ADHD, trauma-related conditions including PTSD, bipolar disorder, and stress-related or adjustment issues. I focus on reducing stigma around mental health and creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard and supported. My goal is not only symptom reduction but also helping you build resilience, improve daily functioning, and enhance your overall quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is collaborative, respectful, and patient-centered. I believe that you are the expert on your lived experience, and my role is to provide clinical expertise, guidance, and support. I take time to listen carefully, conduct thorough assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans that align with your goals, values, and preferences. When appropriate, treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy interventions, lifestyle modifications, and coordination of care with other providers.

If you choose to work with me, you can expect compassionate care, clinical competence, clear communication, and a collaborative partnership focused on your well-being.

What you can expect from me

During your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where your comfort and privacy are a priority. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to share your concerns openly and at your own pace.

The initial appointment is typically a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We will discuss what brought you in, your current symptoms, personal and family mental health history, medical history, medications, lifestyle factors, and any past treatment experiences. I also take time to understand your strengths, support system, stressors, and personal goals. This helps me see the full picture—not just symptoms, but you as a whole person.

Together, we will begin identifying clear and realistic treatment goals. These may include reducing specific symptoms such as anxiety, depression, mood instability, or difficulty concentrating; improving sleep and daily functioning; strengthening coping skills; or enhancing overall quality of life. If medication is appropriate, we will discuss options, benefits, potential side effects, and your preferences before making any decisions. If therapy or additional support services would be beneficial, we will explore those as well.

By the end of the first session, you can expect to have a better understanding of your diagnosis (if one is determined), a preliminary treatment plan, and clear next steps. Most importantly, you can expect to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in your care. My approach is collaborative, and we will move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for you.
