Great to meet you!

I'm Dr. Rahema Rodgers — a board-certified Clinical Psychologist (ABPP) with 24 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to do real work. I earned my PsyD from Wright State University and spent the bulk of my career in hospital outpatient settings, which gave me deep experience with a wide range of clinical presentations — from anxiety and depression to serious relationship ruptures and trauma. I specialize in couples therapy and emotional regulation, and I work with adults who are tired of going in circles — whether that's the same argument, the same anxious spiral, or the same stuck feeling that won't quit. If you've been looking for a therapist who is warm but won't sugarcoat things, you've found her.

My approach to therapy

My approach is evidence-based and deeply practical — grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). With couples I utilize Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT) and also pull from the Gottman Method. I teach skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help improve emotion regulation, and I tailor everything to what you actually need rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. A lot of my work centers on relationships and patterns: helping people identify where they get stuck, why, and how to move forward in a healthy way. I'm direct — if I'm noticing something important, I'll name it. I'll also push back when I think it's useful, because I believe real progress happens when we stop dancing around the hard stuff. I'm also a culturally competent clinician, which means I understand the unique pressures that come with navigating race, identity, and community within an already challenging world. That context is never invisible in our work together.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a conversation — not an interrogation, not a worksheet. I'll ask you about what brought you in, what's been going on, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. I'll listen carefully, and I'll probably ask follow-up questions that catch you off guard (in a good way). By our second session, we'll have a clear plan. My sessions are structured enough to stay focused and flexible enough to follow what actually matters in the room. Most clients tell me they feel genuinely heard and appropriately challenged — that's the combination I'm always going for.
