Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly two decades of experience in healthcare and advanced training as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC). This dual certification allows me to bring a uniquely comprehensive medical and psychiatric perspective to mental health care.

Before specializing in psychiatry, I worked for years in high-acuity hospital settings, including trauma surgery and intensive care, caring for patients with complex medical, psychiatric, and substance-related conditions. This background helps me recognize how physical health, medications, stress, trauma, and life circumstances intersect with mental health symptoms.

Clients often appreciate that I take their concerns seriously, explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, and approach care with both compassion and clinical depth. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced medical trauma, chronic stress, or life transitions that have impacted their mental well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and holistic. I believe effective mental health treatment starts with understanding the whole person, not just a diagnosis or symptom list.

I integrate thoughtful medication management with therapeutic principles, education, and shared decision-making. Drawing on my acute care and psychiatric training, I carefully consider medical history, current medications, sleep, stress, and lifestyle factors when developing treatment plans. When appropriate, I work alongside therapists and other providers to ensure coordinated, well-rounded care.

I strive to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental, where clients feel heard and empowered to participate actively in their treatment. My goal is to help clients gain clarity, stability, and practical tools to improve daily functioning and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a comprehensive evaluation focused on understanding their current concerns, mental health history, medical background, and goals for care. I take time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and clarify how symptoms are affecting daily life.

We will review possible diagnoses, discuss treatment options in clear and practical terms, and collaboratively develop an initial plan that feels appropriate and manageable. If medication is considered, I explain the reasoning, potential benefits, and side effects so clients can make informed decisions.

Most importantly, clients can expect to feel respected, supported, and met where they are. The first session is about building trust, setting direction, and creating a foundation for ongoing care that aligns with each client’s needs and values.
