Great to meet you!

I've wanted to be a counselor since high school. My brother lived with bipolar disorder, and watching him struggle to find care that truly understood him made me determined to become that for people like him.

Forty years later, I still mean it.

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, licensed here since 1994, with experience across community mental health, substance abuse programs, foster care, correctional settings, and private practice. I have a particular focus on people rebuilding after incarceration and those in recovery from opioid and other substance use disorders. There isn't much I haven't seen, and that shapes how I work: with steadiness, perspective, and without judgment.

My approach to therapy

My approach is to identify what's missing in your life. Together we paint the picture of your life and locate the areas where you feel disappointed, hurt, or have unmet needs. That's where we focus. I draw primarily on CBT and reality therapy, and I adapt to what fits each person. I've been doing this long enough to know that the right technique is the one that actually helps you.

What you can expect from me

In the first session I'll want to understand what brought you here and what you're hoping for from therapy. We'll start to get a sense of your goals and how we might work together. After four decades in this field, I've found that the most important thing isn't the approach. It's whether you feel like you can be honest in the room. That's what we're working toward from the start.
