Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome! I’m Ramiro Cruz, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with a background in supporting individuals facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma. I also have experience working with federally mandated clients, which has given me a unique perspective on the importance of accountability, structure, and personal growth.

I take a compassionate, client-centered approach, meeting you where you are on your journey. My work combines evidence-based techniques with a deep respect for your individual story and needs. Whether you’re navigating substance use concerns, dealing with the impact of past trauma, or working through mental health challenges, I’m here to support you in building coping strategies, fostering resilience, and making meaningful progress.

In our work together, I’ll provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel empowered to make the changes that matter most to you. If you’re looking for someone to help guide you through difficult moments with empathy and understanding, I’d be honored to be part of your journey.

Looking forward to collaborating with you!

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is centered on building a trusting, collaborative relationship with each client. I believe that therapy is most effective when it’s a safe space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I tailor my approach to each individual, combining evidence-based techniques with a compassionate, client-centered style.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Therapy, which I adapt depending on your needs and goals. When working with clients dealing with substance use, I also incorporate harm-reduction strategies and work closely with clients to develop coping skills and strategies that promote long-term recovery and emotional wellness.

For those who are federally mandated or involved in more structured environments, I understand the importance of accountability and the balance between meeting external requirements and supporting personal growth. I work collaboratively with clients to ensure they feel empowered, not only to meet any mandated obligations but also to make meaningful changes that align with their personal values and goals.

Ultimately, my aim is to help you identify the barriers holding you back and work together to create lasting change. I believe everyone has the capacity for growth, and I’m here to support you in your journey to a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, my primary goal is to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. I’ll create a welcoming and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, feelings, and any challenges you’re currently facing. There’s no pressure—this session is really about you feeling heard and understood.

We’ll spend some time discussing your history, your current situation, and any specific goals you may have for therapy. I’ll also explain how therapy works and answer any questions you have about the process, confidentiality, or anything else you’d like to know.

Since I specialize in both mental health and substance use, I’ll take time to understand how these issues might be impacting you and explore ways we can address them moving forward. If you’re federally mandated or have other specific circumstances, we can also discuss the requirements and ensure that therapy is aligned with your needs.

By the end of the session, I hope you’ll feel comfortable with the therapeutic process and have a clearer idea of how we can work together to achieve your goals. Together, we’ll determine the best course of action and create a plan for moving forward.

Above all, I want you to know that this is your journey, and I’m here to support you in whatever way feels most helpful for you.
