Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ramon, an Army veteran, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and LCDC-I with several years of experience in mental health and substance use treatment, including serving as a clinical director. I am currently a doctoral candidate at Liberty University in International Cross-Cultural Counseling. My decision to become a therapist was personal; during my military service, I experienced a difficult period and learned firsthand how meaningful it can be to have someone who listens without judgment. I have a particular passion for working with veterans, but I welcome people from all backgrounds and believe everyone deserves to feel heard, respected, and accepted. Most importantly, I’m human too, and I believe people can heal, grow, and move forward when they have the right support.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in a person-centered philosophy, meaning I see you as the expert on your own life and believe therapy should be something we do together. My role is to listen, ask questions, offer perspective, and provide guidance while respecting your goals, experiences, and pace. I also draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Prolonged Exposure, particularly when working with PTSD, veterans, substance use, and co-occurring concerns. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so I work with you to find an approach that feels right and supports the changes you want to make.

What you can expect from me

The first session is primarily about getting to know you and building rapport, because feeling comfortable with your therapist is an important part of the process. I’ll want to understand what brought you to therapy, what you’re experiencing, and what you hope will be different. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say, we can work through that together. Most importantly, I want the first session to feel like a conversation where you can be yourself, ask questions, and decide whether I’m the right therapist for you.
