Great to meet you!

Ramona Girley, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with advanced training and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions across the lifespan. She brings a strong clinical foundation in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions within outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) settings.

Her professional practice focuses on treating mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and co-occurring substance use concerns. She is experienced in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, risk assessments, and individualized treatment planning tailored to each client’s needs.

In addition to medication management, Ramona emphasizes a holistic and collaborative approach to care, integrating psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and multidisciplinary coordination to support long-term stabilization and recovery. Her clinical style is structured yet compassionate, with a strong commitment to patient-centered care, measurable outcomes, and improving overall quality of life for her clients.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing care is grounded in a structured, patient-centered, and collaborative clinical philosophy. I prioritize a comprehensive understanding of each client through thorough psychiatric evaluation, psychosocial assessment, and ongoing risk monitoring to ensure safety and diagnostic accuracy.

I deliver care using an evidence-based and goal-oriented framework, focusing on individualized treatment planning with measurable outcomes that support symptom reduction, functional improvement, and long-term stability. Medication management is integrated thoughtfully with psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and lifestyle interventions to address both biological and psychosocial contributors to mental health conditions.

My style is both compassionate and directive, balancing empathy with clear clinical structure. I emphasize therapeutic rapport, client engagement, and empowerment while maintaining consistent clinical boundaries and accountability within treatment.

I also value multidisciplinary collaboration, working closely with treatment teams, families, and community supports to ensure continuity of care and holistic support for each patient’s recovery journey.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with me to be structured, supportive, and focused on understanding their needs in a comprehensive and nonjudgmental way.

The initial appointment typically begins with a welcoming introduction and an explanation of the evaluation and treatment process, so clients know what to expect and feel comfortable moving forward. I then conduct a thorough psychiatric evaluation, which includes discussion of current symptoms, mental health history, medical history, trauma history, substance use, family psychiatric history, and psychosocial factors such as relationships, work, and stressors.

A key component of your first session is a detailed risk assessment, including screening for suicidal ideation, self-harm, homicidal ideation, and safety concerns, ensuring that immediate needs are identified and addressed. I also assess functional impairments and identify the client’s primary concerns and treatment goals.

Clients can expect a collaborative conversation where they are actively involved in shaping their treatment plan. I provide initial clinical impressions, discuss possible diagnoses when appropriate, and review early treatment recommendations, which may include medication options, therapy referrals, or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services depending on clinical need.

By the end of the session, clients leave with a clear understanding of next steps, a preliminary treatment plan, and a sense of direction and support in their mental health care journey.
