Great to meet you!

I am glad you have reached out for help. I believe you have what you need to make the changes you want. I have a PhD in Counseling Psychology with over 30 years of practice in the counseling and marriage and family therapy fields. My approach is to be your guide to discover your own strengths and resources. I work with individuals, couples, and families in conflict or who just need help navigating relationships and other life challenges. While facing our difficulties is the best way to find healing, I can help you to effectively address anxiety, stress, and other impediments to living the life you want and in a way you will likely find interesting and helpful.

My approach to therapy

My foremost concern is to help you make the changes you want to make in a psychologically and relationally sound manner. I enjoy helping people make changes in their lives by discovering and implementing strengths and resources they already possess. To that end, I use an active, solution-focused, and experiential approach. I utilize a number of tools, including hypnosis and other self-regulatory techniques. In other words, I help you to discover or to create solutions, develop a plan to help you find the motivation and direction to apply those solutions, and do so with encouragement, warmth, and support.

What you can expect from me

From our first session you will experience my presence with you--the care and focused attention you would expect from a therapist. Beyond the initial assessment of what you want from counseling, you can begin to experience a different kind of conversation, one that evokes helpful experiences in the session that you can take with you and utilize in your life.
