Great to meet you!

I'm Raquel Johnson, LCSW, a bilingual Spanish-English clinical social worker and school social worker. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Denver, completed a Master’s Certificate in Compassion and Dignity for Educators from the University of Colorado Boulder, and am currently pursuing a Doctor of Social Work at Capella University.

I have more than 15 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families in educational and community settings. My background includes school social work, mental health advocacy, crisis response, counseling, behavioral support, trauma-informed care, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, behavioral concerns, suicidal thoughts, crisis situations, substance use, family stress, identity development, and major life transitions. I support LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC communities, immigrants and newcomer families, neurodivergent clients, and people navigating poverty, homelessness, adoption, criminal justice involvement, and cultural or religious identity concerns.

My approach is compassionate, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. I draw from motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and practical coping strategies to help clients feel understood, develop resilience, and move toward healing and greater well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I believe healing begins with feeling safe, heard, and respected. I work alongside clients to understand their experiences, identify their strengths, clarify their goals, and develop practical tools for meaningful change.

I draw from motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, psychoeducation, crisis intervention, and culturally responsive care. I consider the whole person—including culture, identity, relationships, family systems, and life circumstances—while honoring each client’s pace and readiness.

Whether supporting children, adolescents, adults, or families, I strive to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where clients can build resilience, strengthen relationships, process difficult experiences, and move toward greater hope and well-being.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free first session. We will spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brings you to therapy, and identifying your current concerns, strengths, and goals.

I will explain my approach, answer your questions, and collaborate with you to create a plan that fits your needs. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet—our first session is simply an opportunity to begin building trust and identifying helpful next steps.
