Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Raquel! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 11 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and families. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relationship difficulties, stress, life changes, and emotional or behavioral concerns.

A large part of my professional background has been supporting children and families who have experienced difficult or traumatic situations. I have specialized training in evidence-based treatments, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as experience with cognitive-behavioral and family-based approaches.

Outside of all the credentials and clinical language, I’m simply someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and helping them through difficult seasons of life. I understand that everyone has a different story, personality, and reason for coming to therapy, and I look forward to getting to know the person behind the appointment.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a conversation, not an interrogation. I’m an active therapist, which means I won’t just sit back and listen. I’ll ask questions, offer feedback, help you look at situations from different perspectives, and work with you to find practical ways to move forward.

I meet my clients where they are and adjust my approach based on what they need. Some sessions may involve working through something difficult, while others may focus on problem-solving, relationships, boundaries, coping skills, or simply making sense of what is happening in your life.

I also believe there is room for humor and personality in therapy. You don’t have to be formal or have everything figured out. I want our work together to feel genuine, collaborative, and useful in your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. I’ll ask about what brought you to therapy, what has been going on in your life, and what you hope to get from our time together. You don’t need to come prepared with the perfect explanation or even know exactly what your goals are. We can figure that out together.

There’s no pressure to share everything in the first session. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you while beginning to identify the areas you’d like to work on and goals that feel realistic and meaningful.

Most importantly, I want you to leave feeling heard, comfortable, and hopeful about moving forward. My goal is to create a welcoming space where you can be yourself and know that we are working together.
