Great to meet you!

When anxiety keeps your mind racing long after you've gone to bed, or depression makes an ordinary day feel heavier than it should, it can be hard to picture feeling steady again. Maybe you're carrying grief that hasn't softened yet, or memories of something painful that still shape how you move through the world. Those experiences are real, and you don't have to sort through them by yourself. I'm Raquel Rezentes, a Clinical Professional Counselor licensed in Nevada and Texas, and I work with clients of every age — from young people to older adults — who are living with anxiety, depression, trauma, and the weight of loss. My style is warm, patient, and nonjudgmental, and I want you to feel genuinely comfortable from our very first conversation.

My approach to therapy

Sessions with me tend to feel less like a clinical evaluation and more like a real conversation with someone in your corner. Together we might look at how your thoughts are shaping your emotions and your choices, build practical skills for steadying yourself when feelings get too big, notice the patterns that keep repeating, and gently work through experiences that still carry a charge. To do that I draw on EMDR, CBT, DBT, solution-focused problem solving, Gestalt, and family systems therapy, and I tailor them to what you actually need rather than a one-size-fits-all plan. Over six years of practice, along with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling, have given me particular experience helping people heal from trauma and PTSD, manage ADHD and panic, work through anger, ease everyday stress and burnout, repair relationship and family conflict, and find greater stability with bipolar disorder. I believe therapy works best as a partnership — you're the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you build insight, practical skills, and change that lasts. We'll move at your pace, and nothing is too small to bring in.

What you can expect from me

The first few sessions are mostly about understanding you — what brought you in now, what your history and daily life look like, where your strengths already are, and what you want to be different. From there we'll set goals together, and I'll keep checking in to make sure the work still feels useful to you. Progress tends to show up in ordinary ways: sleeping a little easier, catching a spiral before it takes over, setting a boundary you would have avoided before, feeling more like yourself around the people you love. Some weeks will feel like real movement and others won't, and that's a normal part of the process rather than a sign it isn't working. You don't need to have anything figured out before you begin. When you're ready, you can use Headway to find a session time that fits your schedule, and we'll take it from there.
