Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Rashida! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who helps adults and adolescents navigate anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, trauma, and difficult life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with past experiences, or finding it difficult to balance your own needs with everything life demands, my goal is to help you feel supported while finding a healthier way forward.

Born and raised in the Caribbean, I bring warmth, openness, and a genuine curiosity to my work. I believe everyone deserves a space where they can feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. My approach is compassionate, conversational, and practical, helping you recognize your strengths, develop healthier coping skills, and make meaningful changes in your everyday life. Faith is an important part of my own life, and I'm happy to incorporate faith or spirituality into our work if that's something you value.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable, respected, and actively involved in the process. My style is warm, collaborative, and conversational, and I'll follow your lead while also offering honest feedback, new perspectives, and practical tools to help you move forward. I want our sessions to feel like a genuine conversation where you can explore challenges openly and work toward goals that matter to you.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to tailor our work to your individual needs. Together, we may focus on managing anxiety or depression, processing difficult experiences, navigating relationship or family concerns, or building healthier ways to cope with stress. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, recognize unhelpful patterns, and develop the confidence and skills to create lasting positive change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and talk about what brings you to therapy. We'll explore what you've been experiencing, what's been weighing on you, and what you'd like to accomplish. There's no pressure to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We'll take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

You can expect me to be genuine, compassionate, and easy to talk to. I'll listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions, and work alongside you to identify goals and practical next steps. I believe therapy can be meaningful while still leaving room for humor, connection, and being yourself. My hope is that you leave our sessions feeling heard, supported, and better equipped to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and clarity.
