Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ravjit (Ruby) Sekhon, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and founder of Daya Wellness. I have over 20 years of experience supporting individuals through anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, identity exploration, cultural and intergenerational dynamics, and relationship challenges. My approach is grounded in cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and a strong commitment to social justice. As the daughter of immigrants, I understand the complexity of navigating multiple cultural identities and family expectations while developing a sense of self.

I work with individuals across the lifespan who are seeking support with emotional well-being, personal growth, and life transitions. I support clients in building insight, strengthening boundaries, and reconnecting with their values. In therapy, I bring authenticity, compassion, collaboration, and humor. I believe healing includes both depth and lightness in a safe, supportive space.

Outside of my clinical work, I am a wife, mom of two, dog mom, and lifelong learner. I value connection, reflection, and grounding practices in everyday life.

I graduated from Kean University with a BA in Psychology and minored in Global Studies. I completed my Master's in Social Work from Rutgers University with a specialization in Gerontology.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is eclectic and individualized, meaning I tailor treatment to each person rather than using a one size fits all model. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, strengths-based work, and client-centered therapy. I also integrate trauma-informed, racial-centered, and liberatory frameworks to understand how systems and identity shape lived experience. My goal is to help clients build insight, develop practical tools, and create meaningful change aligned with their values.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a welcoming and collaborative space focused on getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. We will explore your current concerns, relevant history, and the personal, cultural, and relational context shaping your experience. I also take time to understand your strengths, supports, and what has helped you cope in the past. By the end of the session, you will have a clearer sense of how I work and what our next steps may look like.
