Great to meet you!

I have been licensed as a professional counselor in Idaho since 1999. After retirement from the USAF, I sought a "better way" to treat mental health problems when I discovered that what was considered helpful, was not so helpful. I believe that I have found a useful process to deal with depression, anxiety, trauma and substance use. If you are interested in seeing what I can offer, please reach out to me for a consultation.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Most mental health work is founded on a bio/psycho/social framework -- meaning that there are biological, psychological, or social components. I believe that there is a fourth component, faith -- either the absence of or misplaced faith. I believe that individuals deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, where an individual or family is free from judgment. The work I extend is "client-centered," and "trauma-informed." I also believe that my job is to work myself out of a job.

What you can expect from our first session

To promise that you will "always" feel better after treatment is impractical. Yet, I believe that facing the pain and suffering of depression, anxiety, and trauma with a supportive and empathetic clinician is the goal. Most individuals and families that I have treated do feel better, but the goal is to make steady and real progress towards creating stability of mood and behavior.
